When will spell-check learn?

May 31st, 2011

I need spell-check on Microsoft Word, or whatever programme I am using. I can’t do without it. I can spell, sure, but when it comes to getting every grammatical point right, I always fal. See what I mean? I couldn’t even spell fal right. FAIL, I MEAN, I MEAN FAIIIIIIIL. Or just “fail.”

Anyway.
I really need to calm down.

There, that’s better.

I wish I didn’t need it, though, because recently it’s been making me so angry that I literally come within seconds of tearing all the vinyl stickers off my prized guitar. And that’s not something I ever used to think about, as I love that guitar!

My problem? Simple, it is this: whenever I try and do a spell-check, it brings up things which are unnecessary. I am talking about sentence fragments, for example. When will it learn that we live in the 21st Century now, not the 17th! If I want to spell a sentence as a fragment – so in other words, a sentence that isn’t a sentence – then I should damn well be allowed to! Then there’s the fact that if I press ignore by accident, I can’t go back a step and re-change it…

Basically, as you can plainly see, it drives me right up the way. I wish Obama would sort it out. Surely he must get stressed about this too, right? And if the President of The United States can’t sort this issue out, I ask you reader, who actually can?
